| Duties: | The Greenery inc. is seeking a Landscape Construction
Estimator with a strong background in commercial landscape estimating to
help us grow our firm. He or she will work out of the Hardeeville, South
Carolina branch, while working closely with the Corporate office in Hilton
Head Island, South Carolina. The ideal candidate will have excellent
numerical skills and an analytical mindset to perform landscape
construction takeoffs and build professional estimates accurately. The
estimator must be a flexible and adaptable team-player, as well as have
strong communication and client service skills.
Responsibilities:
· Manage estimating workflow and pipeline to provide complete proposals
before bid deadlines
· Assist customers with technical information and pricing and during preconstruction
· Review RFP’s, plans, addendums, and specifications to determine our
scope of work and the most effective production methods
· Define scopes of work for various trades and distribute subcontract bid
packages
· Obtain a minimum of three qualified subcontractor quotes for each scope
of work
· Review each subcontractors’ scope of work and negotiate final bid prices
· Recommend preferred subcontractors on each job to production and
project managers
· Solicit written quotes for hard materials and site furnishings
· Submit plant lists to production staff to be sourced and priced
· Continually update Aspire database and factors
· Complete plan take-off and enter bid information into Aspire
· Calculate total direct cost estimates for each bid
· Assign or propose profit margins based on current pricing guidelines
· Prepare a Bid Summary for each estimate
· Review bids with Managers based on approval limits
· Prepare proposals
· Develop value engineering alternatives
· Estimate large change orders to support production staff
· Participate in pre-job and post-job meetings
· Improve estimating system based on feedback solicited from production
staff
· Complete additional duties or assignments as directed by the Regional
Manager
Requirements:
· Extensive understanding of landscape installation and construction
methods
· Basic knowledge of plant material and best horticultural practices
· Ability to read and understand plans and specifications
· Ability to build strong relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and
customers
· Ability to project a professional image and a positive attitude in all
situations
· Good written and verbal communication skills
· Strong organizational and time management skills
· Proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook and Aspire
· Basic understanding of business math, accounting and financial reporting |
